Nice day in Moultonboro – lots of people and good food. Marci Richardson, from Elegant Ewe, came and talked about Shetland Wool Week and the tours that she now offers. Lots of people now dreaming of trips to the Shetland Isles and of Fair Isle knitted sweaters.

We gathered on a soggy February day in Epsom for our annual Show and Tell fashion show. We had lots of good food and the maple cookies were a special treat. Lots of items for show and tell and we displayed some items that were inspired by the double knitting class by Alasdair Post-Quinn.

The shawls made at 2017 NH Sheep and Wool were displayed and are available for raffle. Drawing will be held at the annual meeting.
Double-knitting is a technique by which you create a fabric with two right-side layers. It was new technique for many of us at the workshop and required much concentration and focus.
After a last minute scramble for a location, we met at a mill building in Manchester. Alasdair introduced the technique and showing us impressive samples and then we were on our way. Starting with an unusual long-tail cast on to thinking in reverse, linking edges and a cast off modification there was a lot of material covered in 3 hours.
It was fun to learn a new technique. I now need to knit something at home to reinforce what I’ve learned.
